Those who pre-ordered Destiny 2 on PlayStation 4 got early access to the Destiny 2 beta today and a chance to play the Homecoming story mission, Inverted Spire strike, and PvP. While playing the PvE content of the beta, players started raising concerns that the amount of Power ammo feels pretty scarce.
One of those concerned players took to Twitter and drew a response from Destiny 2 game director Luke Smith, who said the drop rates for Power ammo will improve in the final game.
Agreed. We’re still tuning those numbers and the uptime Power Weapons in PVE has been improved for ship. https://t.co/4aDILPspcv

From Smith’s response, it appears that the increase in Power ammo availability has already been addressed in the final game. Remember, that the beta is an offshoot of the main game, a build that is segmented off at a point of development some time ago. Meanwhile, the developers at Bungie continue working on the final build as it marches closer to release. Tuning to drop rates, damage numbers, and other balancing can still be done.
But that news isn’t going to help those playing the beta this week, so go in knowing that Power ammo might feel sparse. As a reminder, Power ammo fills up the new third weapon slot that combines all of the one-hit kill weapons into one category. That is, rocket and grenade launchers, sniper rifles, shotguns, fusion rifles, and swords. It’s all a part of the new weapon system that has been implemented, completely changing what longtime fans of Destiny 1 are familiar with.
The Destiny 2 beta is fairly stable at this point, although players did suffer from some error codes and trouble connecting when it first launched. As it is a beta testing the networking and backend servers, there’s the potential for more problems when the Xbox One early access beta goes live Wednesday morning.
The beta offers a limited number of activities and gear for players to try out, but those playing have been able to find a few Easter eggs so far. Stay tuned to Game Rant for more secrets and guides as they are found in the beta.
Destiny 2 releases September 6, 2017 on PS4 and Xbox One, and later on October 24, 2017 on PC.
