Destiny players discover a way to skip the entire Siege Engine boss fight in the new Wrath of the Machine raid, but be warned doing so eliminates the loot drop.
When Destiny: Rise of Iron’s new raid, Wrath of the Machine, first launched it was assumed, almost even expected, that players would find new and clever ways to complete the activity. Since Bungie had said that the raid is focused on DPS and light level, it made sense that eventually players would be able to complete certain parts with a smaller team, maybe even solo them. What most didn’t expect is that there would be a way to skip one whole portion of the raid.
While Destiny players were busy poking around trying to find the secret behind the final chest in Wrath of the Machine, one found a way to skip past the entire Siege Machine boss fight. Now, it’s important to point out that this also skips the Siege Machine loot drop, but it does not eliminate the exotic chest right after the fight.
To get through the Siege Machine fight without actually beating the boss, players need only hop on the railing on the right of the big giant walls. If the player forces themselves against the wall long enough eventually they will “phase” through and come out the other side. Then all you need to do is jump and get back onto solid ground. Do the same thing for the next wall, and then you have made it through the encounter without activating or fighting the Siege Machine.
It’s unclear why some players may want to skip the fight, but eventually there may be some who don’t need the loot and are simply looking to speed run the encounter. In fact, since the Siege Machine is arguably the most chaotic of the boss fights, it’s possible to use this glitch to complete a flawless run, and get the ‘Flawless Raider’ trophy/achievement.
Those who do want loot, however, should be aware that activating the fight also blocks the glitch. There is no way to skip past the walls once the Siege Machine is active; you must survive the onslaught and then repair the vehicle.
The Wrath of the Machine raid has only been out for less than a week, and already players are finding creative ways to circumvent its boundaries. It feels like only a matter of time before someone solos the entire thing, and there may be even more ways to skip boss fights and advance. But for now, most players are still focusing on completing all sections, beating the final boss Aksis, and collecting the new raid weapons.
Destiny: Rise of Iron is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
