The D23 Expo is currently underway in California – a bi-yearly event hosted by Disney to showcase its upcoming projects to fans. While movies and theme parks often dominate the show, Electronic Arts has pulled back the curtain on more content for its upcoming shooter, Star Wars Battlefront II.
As part of the D23 Expo gaming panel, the publisher has given fans a first glimpse at Battlefront II’s single-player campaign. Through the four-minute video, we’ve now received a behind-the-scenes look at the design process, alongside a short peek at pre-alpha in-game footage.
Everything we know so far about Star Wars Battlefront 2
Focusing heavily on its narrative, the new trailer explores the characters behind “Inferno Squad,” alongside the surrounding world built up by EA. As stressed in the game’s unveiling, Star Wars Battlefront II’s events will be entirely canonical and a clear emphasis is being placed on conveying a deep narrative.
With players assuming control of Iden Versio, special forces commander of the Empire, Star Wars Battlefront II will present its events from a unique perspective. Bridging the gap between 1983’s Return of the Jedi and 2015’s The Force Awakens, the campaign should provide an interesting new angle on the universe as a whole.
With a launch set for November 17, there’s still a few months until the game hits store shelves. Although we’re yet to see raw single-player campaign footage, Gamescom 2017 would be a fitting stage for a more in-depth debut. As always, make sure to share your thoughts on the new single-player trailer in the comments section.
