If The Google Pixel 2 is ANYTHING Like The LG V30 We’re ALL Good

LG is making the Google Pixel 2 XL, and if it’s anything like the LG V30 a lot of people are going to be very happy

The iPhone X is here and most people cannot get their heads around why it is so expensive. Fortunately, for the hardcore Android elite, there is another handset coming that we can now all start getting excited about – the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL.

The original Google Pixel, while a rather dull-looking affair, was a solid first attempt by Google at creating its very on iPhone. The camera was amazing, the battery life was exceptional (on the XL), and the software ran beautifully.

With the Pixel 2, things will be slightly different. For starters, HTC and LG are making the handsets; LG’s doing the larger, Pixel 2 XL, while HTC is making the smaller, less potent Pixel 2. Though I am most excited about the prospect of the Pixel 2 XL.
And the reason for this is the LG V30.

That handset, which is now official, but criminally under-marketed, is a phenomenal phone that packs in a raft of innovative technology and design tweaks. I’ve always been a fan of LG’s way of doing things, but the LG V30 is something else entirely.

With LG making the Google Pixel 2 XL, a lot of what makes the LG V30 tick will likely feature inside the new Pixel 2 XL phone. Or, at least, I hope it does – the V30 is easily one of the best, if unknown, phones on the planet right now.

I mean, just check out these specs and features:

  • Display 6.0″ Quad HD+ FullVision (2880×1440, 18:9, 538ppi)
  • Processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
  • Memory Storage: 64GB (V30) / 128GB (V30+), SD card up to 2TB
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Cameras Rear: 16MP (f/1.6, 71°) + 13MP wide-angle (f/1.9, 120°)
  • Front: 5MP
  • Battery: 3300mAh Quick Charge 3.0, Wireless charging
  • Durability: IP68; MIL-STD 810G Compliant
  • Ports: USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone
  • Network: LTE-A 4 Band CA
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 802.11ac; Bluetooth 5.0; NFC
  • Other: Fingerprint sensor, Quad DAC
  • Size: 151.7 x 75.4 x 7.39mm; 158g
  • Colors: Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue, Lavender Violet

The camera on the V30 is exceptional, packing in a 70-degree field of view and optical image stabilization (OIS), coupled with a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens that offers a 120-degree field of view, the resulting images you can capture with it are exceptional.

The Pixel and Pixel XL’s camera was brilliant, so I have high hopes for what the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 is capable of – The Big G will leave nothing to chance.

Another interesting USP Google could option is the V30’s awesome Quad DAC and MQA player, which offers up vastly superior sound quality most other phones on the market right now. There is also the LG B&O collaboration, though I don’t see this going to the Pixel 2 – still, a Quad DAC and MQA player would do very nicely.

After seeing some leaks of the Pixel 2 I was a bit underwhelmed by the handset, though after considering the V30 connection, I am now a lot happier with the advent of the Pixel 2 XL, which debuts alongside the Pixel 2, on October 4.

Interested in the Google Pixel or Pixel XL at a discounted rate? Well, Carphone Warehouse has now knocked £270 off the asking price of both handsets, making them an absolute steal – you can grab one, SIM-free, for just £449.99 right now.
