One very talented artist has created a LEGO version of Junkrat’s RIP-Tire from Overwatch. The creation follows a trend of Overwatch fans making the game’s weapons in real life, with a real-life Lucio gun also being available.
YouTuber ZaziNombies is famous for making Overwatch LEGO creations, having previously made Mercy’s staff, Reaper’s shotguns and a Torbjorn turret too. This latest creation may be the most impressive it features over 4,500 individual LEGO bricks to make Junkrat’s Rip-Tire. The sculpture faithfully recreates the Australian defense hero’s ultimate ability, as not only is it life-size, but it also includes a tire tread pattern as well. The masterpiece even features a brick-built tire-chain, as if making the sculpture wasn’t difficult enough as it is.
In a video detailing the project, the YouTuber explains that it also features some chrome stickers for the lettering on the side. It’s also a massive two-feet wide and is even able to rotate, as pulling the the tire-chain makes the center-piece move. Although the LEGO RIP-Tire is unable to climb up walls or turn like the in-game ability, ZaziNombies does roll it down the sidewalk at one point, with disastrous results. It’s not pretty seeing all of those LEGO blocks fall off but it is impressive seeing an inner look at this fantastic project.
With this project firmly in the bag, the YouTuber is already looking for suggestions for the next one. Popular suggestions include a the gun used by new character Orisa, a LEGO version of turret hero Bastion as well as the dragons from Hanzo and Genji’s ultimates. All of those would probably require over 5,000 LEGO bricks, meaning that the popular LEGO builder will truly have his work cut out for him if he chooses to take fans up on their suggestions.
These LEGO-based projects are all very impressive and take a lot of time and effort, and some will agree that it’s a testament to the world that Blizzard has built. Overwatch may not have a story mode but people genuinely seem to care about its characters and its universe. Plenty have shown their appreciation for it too, by creating brand new game modes using existing Overwatch features, to creating real-life pieces of artwork. The game continues to grow and grow so it’s anyone’s guess what the Overwatch community will come up with next.
Overwatch is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
