Ronda Rousey Played World of Warcraft with Vin Diesel

During a recent appearance on Conan, UFC fighter Ronda Rousey discusses World of Warcraft gaming sessions with Vin Diesel, her love of Pokemon, and more.

For years, Ronda Rousey has been outspoken about her love of video games, becoming one of the most notable celebrity gamers in the process. While her devastating loss to Holly Holm saw the once-undefeated UFC trailblazer fade from the limelight, Rousey is now back in full-swing on the late night talk show circuit to promote her upcoming return to the Octagon at UFC 207, which has given her the chance to open up even more about her love of gaming.

Appearing on Conan, a late night talk show that has become notorious in recent years for its Clueless Gamer segments, Rousey spoke about various video games, including World of Warcraft and Pokemon. As it pertains to World of Warcraft, Rousey said that she actually played the game with co-star Vin Diesel after filming wrapped every night on the set of Fast and Furious 7. According to Rousey, she played a Blood Elf Rogue, while Diesel played as a Druid.

In regards to Pokemon, Rousey said she’s been playing the series for 19 years. Presumably this means she got in on the Pokemon GO craze that took the world by storm this past summer, and was likely one of the many consumers that helped Pokemon Sun and Moon smash sales records for Nintendo. See Rousey talk about Pokemon, World of Warcraft, and more in the clip below:

Some may be surprised to learn of Rousey’s video game history, and may be suspicious of the EA Sports UFC 2 cover athlete‘s love of gaming. On the contrary, there is objective proof that Rousey greatly enjoys video games dating back to her days as a child, when she served as a moderator for a Pokemon forum and wrote online about her love for games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Due to her passion for games, Rousey has expressed an interest in being more involved with gaming in a professional sense, which could be an indication of her post-UFC plans. For example, Rousey previously said that she would like to play the role of Samus Aran in a film adaptation of Metroid, which may be possible now that Nintendo is making movies.

Perhaps this passion for games will even see Rousey enter the world of game development in some capacity, as we’ve seen from other celebrities, or maybe she’ll just stick to playing her favorite titles. Whatever Rousey decides to do professionally when she stops fighting, one has to imagine that she will continue to play video games, even if she doesn’t start developing them herself.
