Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Specs LEAKED, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Release Date The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is good to go – the final spec is ready
The “final” spec sheet of the Galaxy Note 8 has leaked in full, ahead of its launch later this month.
It seems to be a theme of several recent major flagships that their makers insist on faffing about for a very long time with multiple different prototypes, leaving the rumor mill a swirling mass of conflicting and contradictory information. It see-saws, first one way then the other; will the iPhone 8 have an in-screen fingerprint scanner? One week it’s yes, the next week it’s no.
Perhaps this is the only way smartphone OEMs can effectively combat such a ruthlessly efficient, thorough, and well-infiltrated leak and tipster network as exists today – virtually nothing is safe from prying eyes anymore and the best laid secret plans get dragged out into the open kicking and screaming well before a device is market-ready.
What better way to reset the balance than by taking your sweet time on deciding on a final design and having several, wildly different prototypes kicking about in the process? Then again, perhaps I’m giving them too much credit.
But I digress, the Galaxy Note 8 has been no different in this regard, and neither was the Galaxy S8 series before it. Now though, according to a tip from Evan Blass, aka @evleaks, writing for VentureBeat, we have a full run-down of the final design and what we can expect. Blass is well-regarded for the reliability of his leaks, and in this case, he assures us the information comes from “a person briefed on the device’s final configuration.”
According to Blass, the renders he has leaked in recent weeks (main image) are accurate; we can expect a design broadly similar to the Galaxy S8 series, though slightly more angular, and of course, it will carry an S-Pen stylus.
It is quite similar in many regards to the larger Galaxy S8 Plus, however, with an only slightly bigger display panel at 6.3in, and it has the same 2,960×1,440 pixel resolution with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, making it Samsung’s third Infinity Display. Other key design factors mentioned are the proportions at 162.5 x 74.6 x 8.5mm and IP68 water and dust resistance certification.
Inside is a 3,300mAh battery cell with both fast charging support and wireless charging support; the charging and data connectivity is USB Type-C. Processing grunt comes from a Samsung Exynos 8895 chip for the international version, while the US edition will use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.
This is essentially the same setup as the Galaxy S8 series. However, RAM is mentioned at 6GB, while onboard storage is 64GB with microSD expansion capability.
Then there’s the camera. It is a dual-sensor on the rear, with both eyes being 12MP and OIS assisted; one a wide-angle f/1.7 aperture setup with that incredible dual-pixel phase detection autofocus we know and love. The other will be a telephoto lens with a f/2.4 aperture and capable of fixed 2x zoom.
The front-facing selfie cam is a familiar return of an 8MP setup with a f/1.7 aperture.
Blass also tips that on launch the phone will be available in Midnight Black and Maple Gold color options, these will arrive in September, while in the following months Orchid Grey and Deep Sea Blue will arrive as well. The European RRP is stated at €999, which we presume is a starting price.
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Release Date
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will get a release date on September 15, which is likely to be VERY close to Apple’s iPhone 8 launch event. Chances are Samsung knows more than we do about Apple’s plans, it’ll want a clear run at the headlines, for instance, though it will also have the LG V30 to contend with as well.
You can’t also forget Google’s Pixel 2, which is also expected to launch around this time as well. This means Q4 will be a HUGELY competitive end to 2017, with some truly exceptional hardware on offer. Personally speaking, I cannot wait to see how these phones compare!
