Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: The best place to buy Samsung's new flagship smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is the best Android phone on the market right now. While Samsung‘s new flagship may only be incrementally better than its predecessor, our reviews editor Jonathan Bray absolutely loved it.

Many of you decided months ago that the Samsung Galaxy S7 would be your next phone, but it should be known that this isn’t a cheap handset to switch to. And that’s where we come in: we’ve put together a list of tariffs from a selection of major UK retailers and networks to help you find the best deal for your needs.

The best deal we’ve found so far will set you back £819 over two years of ownership, and we don’t expect it to get significantly cheaper for some months.

The key to comparing mobile phone tariffs is to work out the total cost over the lifetime of the phone. This might sound boring and dull, but it can save you hundreds of pounds in the long run, because the best deals often aren’t the free phone deals.

Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: Alphr recommends

Phone tariffs change all the time, even for phones as early in their lifecycle as the Samsung Galaxy S7, but these are the best four deals we’ve managed to pin down from the major networks. Our favourite at the moment is from EE, but Vodafone’s free phone deal could be worth paying extra for as it gives you 2GB more data allowance per month.

Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: Carphone Warehouse

The best deals from Carphone Warehouse are below. At the time of writing it was possible to get a free Samsung Galaxy S7 on a £34 per month tariff with 2GB of data and unlimited texts and minutes. These prices change all the time, though, so this selection is only an early indication.

Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: Three

With Three, prices are a little higher, starting at £939 over a two-year contract, rising to £1,157 over two years, but the latter deal nets you a generous monthly data allowance of 8GB, and the phone will only cost you £29 upfront.

Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: EE

The UK’s first 4G network, EE, is a little more expensive than Three. The lowest cost deal on the Samsung Galaxy S7 is £1,070 over two years, costing £110 up front and £40 per month thereafter for a rather mean 1GB of data (plus unlimited texts and 500 minutes). However, for an effective £3.33 per month more (overall cost), you can grab yourself 10GB of data and unlimited texts and minutes.

Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: O2

The network once owned by BT offers up the usual stingy data deal on its cheaper tariffs, with the Samsung Galaxy S7 costing £30 upfront and £42.50 per month for only 1GB of data per month. The trouble with O2 is that if you want more data, the cost of those S7 deals rises sharply, by £84 over two years for 3GB of data and £256 for 20GB. Look elsewhere.

Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: Vodafone

Vodafone’s pricing structure on the Samsung Galaxy S7 is similar to O2’s: expensive (with a stingy data allowance of 1GB), rising to very expensive. The best deal overall costs £119 for the phone and £40 per month, delivering 3GB of data plus unlimited texts and calls. The total cost of this deal, however, is a prohibitive £1,079.

Samsung Galaxy S7 deals: SIM-free

None of these suppliers are offering pay-as-you go deals on Samsung’s new flagship yet, but if you go SIM-free, it’s currently the cheapest route overall. The phone will cost you £579 upfront, but it’s possible to hammer down the overall cost to £819 over two years with a GiffGaff SIM, although that only nets you 1GB of data per month.
