It’s going to be one of the biggest games of 2017, so let’s take a look at what makes Star Wars: Battlefront II tick!
When the first Star Wars Battlefront came out in 2015 it seemed to be everything Star Wars fans always wanted from a video game. It had HUGE massively multiplayer worlds with the most popular Hero and Villain characters from the Star wars universe. It also looked beautiful – with graphics that approached cinema-quality. Combine that with cutting sound design and beautiful scores and Star Wars Battlefront seemed like it was going to be the best game ever.
However, after the game’s release criticism started to surface. First, the game felt rushed; it only featured four different worlds upon initial released. EA rectified this through the Star Wars Battlefront season pass, which added another four worlds over the course of the next year. However, the Season Pass cost extra money, which made people feel like the game they bought was only half a game and if you wanted to get the full experience you needed to cough up the extra dough for the full experience.
But besides feeling incomplete, Star Wars Battlefront fans also had another huge gripe about the game: there was no single player campaign missions. Yep, despite the killer graphics and being the first Star Wars game that felt like a movie–it didn’t have a story mode. It was multiplayer battles only.
Still, Star Wars Battlefront was one of the biggest selling games of the past two years, so it’s no surprise EA has been hard at work on Star Wars Battlefront II. The company has also pledged to address many of the criticisms about the first game. While the official Star Wars Battlefront II game trailer was scheduled to be released on April 15th, the Playstation version of it leaked online a few days early. Here’s what the leaked trailer revealed about Star Wars Battlefront II.
Star Wars Battlefront II: Single Player Story Mode
While the teaser trailer that leaked didn’t reveal much of what the new story mode would be like, it did reveal a little bit about its plot. From the looks of it, it looks like the character you play in the story mode is a female Empire soldier that was on Endor during the Battle of Endor (from Return of the Jedi). She can be seen looking up into the sky of Endor and witnessing the second Death Star explode.
In the trailer the tagline “The Untold Soldier’s Story” appears. It’s likely that the story mode will involve her place in the Empire and the fights that ensue after the Return of the Jedi. However, it’s possible that as her story progresses we may see her change allegiance to the Rebellion.
Star Wars Battlefront II: Fight Across All Star Wars Eras
Another thing the leaked trailer reveals is that Star Wars Battlefront II will take place across all Star Wars cinema eras. This includes the original trilogy, the prequels, and the new trilogy. This is welcome as it’s sure to bring in more diverse worlds than the first Star Wars Battlefront had, which took place in the era of the original trilogy (including the Rogue One level).
Star Wars Battlefront II: New Heroes And Villains
With new eras come new hero and villain characters. Specific ones shown off in the trailer include Darth Maul, Yoda, Rey, and Kylo Ren. However, there are sure to be many more Heroes included.
Star Wars Battlefront II: New Vehicles
It’s hard to tell what scenes from the trailer represent actual multiplayer worlds, but assuming they all do you can expect Star Wars Battlefront II to include more space battles with new vehicles as well as new land-based vehicles. Matter of fact, one “vehicle” seems to be a Tauntaun. It appears being ridden by a rebel soldier on Hoth.
Star Wars Battlefront II: Pre-Ordering Will Get You Extra Heroes
The Playstation trailer ends by announcing that people who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront II will get Heros from the next Star Wars movie The Last Jedi. Could you be playing as an aged Luke? We won’t have to wait long to find out.
Not played the original Star Wars: Battlefront? You can pick up a copy well cheap now, so what you waiting for?
