Dwayne Johnson says that he fully supports Terry Crews taking the role of Doomfist in Overwatch, a rumored character that could be coming to the game and its universe.
A day after actor Terry Crews posted on his social media accounts asking if his fans would want to see him cast in the role of Overwatch’s Doomfist, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has weighed in. Johnson put his full support behind Crews taking a role, if it were to exist, and said so on Twitter.

The actor continues to add hype that fans are having over the possibility of Crews voicing a character that is hinted at in the game and its lore. Last month, Crews visited Blizzard Studios in Irvine, home of the development team behind Overwatch. The details of the visit are unknown, but it is all leading to more and more speculation that his visit was related to his ongoing interest in lending his performance to the game.
All this talk about Crews as Doomfist started weeks ago when a Redditor on the Overwatch Subreddit started a thread saying that if Doomfist were ever to make it into Overwatch in the future, that Terry Crews should do the character’s voicework. Crews himself replied to the thread saying he would “LOVE TO PLAY DOOMFIST.” Crews is a well-known celebrity gamer who plays Overwatch, and it is clear that he is enthusiastic about getting his voice into the game.
For those unfamiliar with the character Doomfist, he is a villain to the Overwatch team, who apparently is not just one character, but whose name has been used as a moniker by many antagonists in the past, according to Overwatch’s lore. What is thought to be the latest iteration of the character can be found on the map Numbani, where he is pictured on posters on the map. Doomfist’s glove is also the item being transported on the payload on that map.
Interestingly, references to Doomfist go even further back than that, even to the first reveal of Overwatch. In the game’s first cinematic trailer, Doomfist’s glove is the item being fought over by Reaper, Widowmaker, Tracer, and Winston.
It remains unknown whether Terry Crews will have a role in the future of Overwatch. Equally unknown is if Doomfist will ever even appear in Overwatch. While Blizzard has said it is working on more heroes, when we would see them is also a mystery, and could be quite some time considering that the last hero added to the game, Sombra, took quite a while to finally debut.
Overwatch is available now on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
