GALAXY A5 (2017) – The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is one of the most awaited phones for early 2017. Samsung not only aims to use this new smartphone to polish its image after the Note 7 fiasco, but also to reinforce the popularity of its seductive 2016 opus. What we currently know is enough to uncover the potential of the future A5 (2017) and to realize that this phone could have a successful career ahead of it. It may be good enough to kick off the year 2017 in the best possible way for Samsung after a difficult end of year in 2016.
A design inspired by the Galaxy S7
Last year, the Galaxy A5 (2016) marked a distinct improvement in the range compared to the 2016 generation. The phone was equipped with a fingerprint reader but more notably, it inherited a metal finish inspired by the S6. This year, Samsung seems to want to stick to a formula that works. The south Korean manufacturer has understood this clearly. A large proportion of users put the design of the phone as a leading criterion in their choice of smartphone. This is why the Galaxy A5 (2017) should borrow some of the styling of the Galaxy S7.
The first designs that were uncovered actually follow this logic. The smartphone mixes metal and glass with soft harmonious curves on the sides. The family resemblance with the Galaxy S7 is clear and many people who do not ardently follow the latest news regarding telephones get them mixed up. The slight advantage compared with the S7 is that the camera doesn’t protrude from the back cover at all. Of course, Samsung is crafty and will offer this smartphone in different colors (blue, pink, black and golden yellow) to avoid disappointing anyone.
An appropriate spec sheet for a mid-range phone
Appearance is not everything. However, luckily, Samsung does not seem to want to make sacrifices with its new smartphone. Under the hood, there is an Exynos 7880 processor and 3 GB of RAM. This should be enough to ensure satisfactory performance for normal users. A 3000 mAh battery and a 13 MP main camera should also be available. All this for a smartphone with a 5.2-inch Full-HD screen and unfortunately running under Android Marshmallow.
Furthermore, as a worthy successor of the A5 (2016), this new version should boast an impressive battery life of 2 days with intense use. This is just as well since it is one of the most sought-after qualities in a mobile phone.

Finally, after the successes of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the south Korean firm might also decide to to offer an IP68 certification for the phone but this is, unfortunately, only speculative. This would allow the smartphone to be submerged in water to a depth of 1.5 meters, and for a maximum duration of 30 minutes. Having said this, don’t imagine that you’ll be going swimming with your smartphone. The point of this sort of resiliency is rather to avoid the many risks and issues of daily life.
More affordable than the Galaxy S7
Let’s not kid ourselves, price is a determining factor. Although many people may be seduced by the qualities of a Galaxy S7, this can change quickly with the price of the device. The Galaxy A5 (2017) is therefore responding to these users with a tighter budget, offering a starting price of around $400. There is also no doubt that this price will decrease rapidly after its launch.
