Destiny 2‘s Nightfall Strikes are an tweaked version of the game’s standard Strikes, designed to be much harder. Nightfalls include modifiers that can completely change the way that players get through the activity and put players’ skills to the test.
Unfortunately, The Arms Dealer, which is the first of the Nightfall Strikes to be offered in the game, is broken. Many Destiny 2 players have taken to social media to complain that the Nightfall’s Prism modifier, which deals increased damage when players use the corresponding damage type, wasn’t clear enough.
While the game does give players a message to let them know when the Prism damage type has changed, players said that it didn’t stay on-screen long enough and they often missed it as a result. Fans implored the game’s developer Bungie to introduce a permanent Prism damage icon.
It didn’t take long for word to get back to the Destiny 2 team, which posted on the official forums confirming that the Prism modifier is bugged. “We are actively investigating an issue impacting the Nightfall Prism modifier where the currently featured element is not persisting on screen as is intended,” writes the developer, confirming that a hotfix is coming at some point. Bungie also confirmed that Momentum, one of the modifiers for the next Nightfall Strike is also impacted by a “severe issue.” As a result, Prism will replace Momentum as a modifier in the next Nightfall.
Destiny 2 players will be delighted that Bungie is working on a solution. While some speculated that the Prism modifier issue was an intended feature, now that it’s confirmed not to be the case, it’s good to see that Bungie has a plan in place to sort it out. Although at least one player has successfully completed the first Nightfall Strike solo, plenty of others were struggling to finish it at all, partly because of the bug. The fix should hopefully make things a bit smoother for those players.

The modifier fixes are also one of several known Destiny 2 bugs that Bungie is currently working to address. There are additional problems with Nightfall Strikes not giving players credit for completing the activity, for example, while several other activities have problems too. As the game has been available for less than a week teething issues are to be expected, but the sooner things are patched up, the better.
Destiny 2 is out now on PS4 and Xbox One.
