With Destiny 2 set to launch on console next week, fans of the forthcoming science fiction shooter have been scouring the Internet looking for as many details as possible regarding what the the title will contain, which previously led to some players data mining the PC beta, resulting in some clues about the sequel’s replacement for Trials of Osiris. Now, it looks as if even more information about the game have surfaced online, as some “high-level” DLC details have been leaked to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier.
According to the report, Schreier’s sources say that Destiny 2‘s first DLC is called The Curse of Osiris, and it will focus on the space wizard Osiris, while also coming with a patrol zone, as well as a new social space. Not to mention, the leak points toward a December 2017 release for the expansion, which would be roughly three months following the game’s official launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
As far as the story for The Curse of Osiris goes – at least when it comes to the leak’s details – Destiny 2‘s Guardians will be tasked with rescuing Osiris from the robotic alien lifeforms known as the Vex. Should this actually come to pass, then it would mean the first instance ever of being able to see Osiris in the game itself, as the character has been mentioned numerous times within the franchise’s lore.
When it comes to the patrol zone in The Curse of Osiris, the Destiny 2 DLC’s patrol will be located on the planet Mercury, and Guardians will be able to gather together in a new social space on the Lighthouse. For those unaware, the Lighthouse was an area featured in the original game that was only available to those players who managed to achieve flawless records in the PvP mode Trials of Osiris.
Taking all of this into account, if the information from the leak for Destiny 2‘s initial DLC is accurate, then it looks as if the forthcoming expansion will be noticeably larger than the first add-on for Destiny 1, which was The Dark Below. With many having criticized The Dark Below as having been thin on content, Bungie will need to ensure that its supposed The Curse of Osiris doesn’t make the same mistake, and will include a beefy set of activities and in-game materials for the expansion.

Destiny 2 is slated to release on September 6, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and it will launch on October 24, 2017 for PC.
