Square Enix reveals fresh details about a forthcoming update for its RPG Final Fantasy 15, which adds a feature letting players take their own photos in the game.
While it was recently revealed that Square Enix currently has an unannounced expansion in development for Final Fantasy 15, the role-playing game’s creators still have plenty of other features planned for the title’s post-launch lifespan. As a matter of fact, Square Enix has now shared news that it will provide fans with a new update for Final Fantasy 15 soon, and it will include a fresh feature allowing players to take their own photos within the game.
As initially reported on Square Enix’s Japanese website (via Gematsu), the Final Fantasy 15 publisher and developer went over some of the contents for the forthcoming update, which is supposed to arrive next Tuesday, January 24, and it will incorporate what is described as a “self-photographing feature.” In the contents’ outlining, Square Enix specifies that players can only utilize the feature outside of battle, so Prompto’s auto-snapshot style will be in charge of any pictures taken during combat.
The photo feature won’t be the only aspect being added to Final Fantasy 15 through the game’s next update, as Square Enix also will include additions to the free and paid holiday DLC packs. To be specific, the Moogle Chocobo Carnival will be starting in the next update, it will also give a new costume called the “Choco-Mog Tee” that can only be worn by Noctis, it will add a photo frame, and more.
Beyond the impending availability of a photo-taking feature, Final Fantasy 15‘s developers have far more in mind for the game’s future, with a copious amount of DLC and updates planned. As a matter of fact, the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, has proclaimed 2017 to be the year “of giving back to everyone for their kindness” for supporting the continued success of Final Fantasy 15.
Speaking of Final Fantasy 15‘s triumphs, the game quickly became the fastest-selling entry in the series soon after its launch last year. As it stands, Square Enix has reported that the title’s prosperity continues to swell, as Final Fantasy 15 has moved 6 million copies since its release in November 2016.
Taking all of this into consideration, it seems as if Square Enix is ready for the long haul when it comes to giving Final Fantasy 15 plenty more to do in the form of updates and DLC. Although it might irk those who are of the opinion that the title was released unfinished to see that so much content is on-deck rather than having been released in the base game, Square Enix’s commitment to post-launch materials ought to appease most hardcore fans of the franchise.
Final Fantasy 15 is out now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
