For fans of Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode, it’s been a wild few months for the map and various landmarks located within. After the much-publicized missile launch that took place prior to season 5 kicking off, players have been able to see a giant crack in the sky. Through this rift, all sorts of odd landmarks and changes have come to the map including turning Moisty Mire into Paradise Palms. After the latest patch, it looks like the rift that started it all is finally getting fixed.
Following a small patch that was applied to Fortnite this past weekend, players have noticed that the giant rift in the sky has had a few of its sections disappear completely. With the rift now reportedly closing, dataminers and leakers alike have been looking for more information and have determined that the rift is on course to close entirely on August 21, 2018. The FNBRLeaks account even posted a picture of what the rift will supposedly look like 3 days before the rift closes for good.
Regarding to the Rift Shrinking on the 21st, That will be the date when the Rift Completely disappears. This is what the sky will look like on the on the 18th. 3 Days away from when its gone. pic.twitter.com/dDd1jCvivN

Speculation indicates that the rift will continue to slowly disappear over the course of season 5 until it is fully gone by the end. This behavior follows a similar pattern to previous seasons including the meteors and comet which continued to slowly advance as season 3 wrapped up. As these things go, some major event then takes place to help shake up the experience and the map in an effort to keep things fresh for players going into the upcoming season. For a Battle Royale game that has only kept the same map since the mode launched last October, this method seems to be working.
It’s likely Epic has more planned events in store considering that Season 5 is only about halfway through. While the latest set of week 6 challenges has already leaked and players eagerly await the arrival of a heavy sniper rifle, the biggest Fortnite news is that the game has finally opened its doors to Android users through a recently released beta version. While the first wave of beta invites were limited to Galaxy device users only, the Android beta has only just recently started to open to everyone else.
Fortnite is available now for Nintendo Switch, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
