Benefits of Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay brings with it many, many benefits – especially if you’re a hardened Apple user. But for me, the following are easily the most useful aspects of CarPlay:

Phone Calls & Dialling – CarPlay will allow you to access all of your contacts stored inside your iPhone via Siri, so you can make hands-free calls while driving around.

Texting – You can use Siri, while driving, to compose and send a text. This one is proper handy.

Maps – This one is pretty obvious, but it sure as hell beats using the naff built-in navigation systems most cars come with.

Music – You can access all the stored music files on your iPhone, both on the device and in the cloud. Apple has also built in support for the following additional apps to work with CarPlay.

Apps Currently Supported Inside CarPlay

  • Apple Music
  • Audible
  • Audio Books
  • CBS Radio
  • iHeartRadio
  • iTunes
  • MLB AtBat
  • Overcast
  • Pandora
  • Podcasts
  • Rdio
  • Spotify
  • Stitcher

How CarPlay Works

Again, pretty simple: all you have to do is pair your iPhone with the CarPlay system inside your car. This is done via TouchID or FACE ID and takes literally about five seconds.

Once you’ve done this, your iPhone and your car are connected. You can then start using your iPhone’s features and apps, hands-free while driving around.

You’ll also be able to access features inside your car’s dash. Icons look pretty much exactly like they do on your iPhone, so there really is no learning curve.

CarPlay, like the iPhone, is designed to be super-user-friendly and really easy to use.

Once you’re paired, there’s really nothing else to do except play with all the new features.

Now you just gotta find a decent car leasing service. I use this one, as they have tons of new cars (including EU models like Jags).
