New Fortnite Mode Lets Players Win Free V-Bucks – Game Rant

Just yesterday, Epic Games officially announced the addition of a fresh Limited Time Mode entitled Solo Showdown to Fortnite, which will allow fans to try out their skills against “other self-selected competitors” in what the developer is proclaiming to be “the ultimate test of survival.” While this description will surely stoke the most avid players of the sandbox survival title into testing their mettle, the fact that it will let them win free V-Bucks will definitely be the major draw of the LTM.

According to a recent blog post from Epic Games, those who take part in Solo Showdown are going to be in the running to win free V-Bucks, with top performers being rewarded at the conclusion of the competition on May 21, 2018, 10:00 AM ET. To be more specific as to how it works, players’ first 50 matches in the new Fortnite LTM will be counted toward their overall score at the end of the event, with those placing 51st-100th getting 7,500 V-Bucks, 5th-50th place receiving 13,500 V-Bucks, 2nd-4th getting 25,000 V-Bucks, and 1st place winning a grand total of 50,000 V-Bucks.

With such a sizeable amount of V-Bucks at stake, there’s no doubt that Solo Showdown will see a slew of Fortnite fans fill the new Limited Time Mode’s playlist queue, especially since the winnings can be used to purchase plenty of existing cosmetics and forthcoming skins, pickaxes, and gliders. Of course, there’s always the chance that the reward won’t be the main goal for many of these players, as some will simply see the grand prize of being named first place among so many other solid competitors the ultimate Victory Royale.

Beyond the rewards to be doled out to the top players of Solo Showdown, Epic Games also seems to be using the Limited Time Mode as a sort of “stepping stone” in order to learn how to create better events in the future for all of Fortnite‘s players. What’s more is that it will provide the company with a segue into offering details about the recently rumored Competitive Mode, as the studio has promised to deliver “a major announcement” about the feature sometime next week.

Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
