5G is coming in 2019… and these are the best 5G phones we’re most excited about testing out!

#1) Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is the follow up to last year’s extremely popular Galaxy S9. It will feature new tech, new camera technology, improved specs, and, of course, 5G connectivity.

Samsung’s making three distinct models, so you’ll definitely have plenty of options when the handset gets official. One model will be a 5G handset that will likely be exclusive to EE.

#2) Huawei Mate X

Huawei has been KILLING it during the past couple of years. I’m currently using the Mate 20 Pro and it is bloody spectacular.

However, the phone I am most excited about using is Huawei’s £2000 Mate X handset which is a true foldable Android phone in the vein of the Galaxy Fold – only better.

How’s it better than the Galaxy Fold? Well, it’s bigger for one and thinner. It also runs Huawei’s ultra-rapid Kirin 980 CPU and packs in full support for 5G.

Excitement Rating: 10/10

#3) LG V50 THINQ

The LG V50 ThinQ might not look quite as snazzy as the Huawei Mate X, but it certainly brings plenty of utility to the table with its dual-OLED displays.

Launched at MWC 2019, the LG V50 ThinQ packs in a TON of epic specifications for rapid performance. You have Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 CPU, a 6.4in OLED display, and a triple lens camera system as well as 5G support.

Could this be the phone that puts LG back on the map?

#4) Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is not only one of the best-looking phones on this list, but it is also one of the most inexpensive as well – prices start at just £520!

For that, you’re getting a stunningly designed phone complete with 5G, 10GB of RAM, a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio), and 256GB of storage. For less than £550!

All of this combined makes the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 one of the best and most affordable 5G phones on the planet right now!

Excitement Rating: 8.5/10

#5) OnePlus 7

The OnePlus 7, next to the Mi Mix 3, will likely be the best affordable 5G phone during 2019. The handset will pick up where the OnePlus 6T left off, adding in design refinements, new tech, and updated features.

5G is now confirmed; the handset was sort of demoed at MWC. OnePlus is keen to keeps its loyal fans up to date on what it’s working on, and 5G seems to be the order of the day right now.

The OnePlus 7 will be available through EE when it lands later on this year with full 5G capabilities.

Excitement Rating: 9/10

#6) Huawei Mate 30

Huawei’s Mate line of smartphones is basically its Galaxy Note series. And like Samsung’s Galaxy Note series, I actually find Huawei’s Mate phones better than its P ones. They’re just always more exciting.

The Mate 20 PRO is still pretty new, so we’re not expecting an update to it until towards the end of 2019. But when the Huawei Mate 30 does drop, you can bet your ass it will be pretty darn sweet.

I cannot wait to see what Huawei does with the imaging technology aboard the Mate 30 – the Mate 20 PRO’s camera is nuts as it is! Chuck in 5G support and a raft of updated specs and you’re in a very good place.

Excitement Rating: 9.5/10

#7) OPPO 5G Flagship Phone

What will OPPO do in 2019? The Chinese brand has been making some fairly large waves in the UK and US with its budget-friendly Android phones, and we expect to see plenty more of this in 2019.

Expect to see at least a couple of major releases from OPPO in 2019, all of which will run on 5G.

Excitement Rating: 6/10

#8) Apple’s New iPhones

Ah, Apple… you can’t make a list of phones that we are most looking forward to without including the most popular phone on the planet, Apple’s iPhone.

As always, the latest batch of iPhones are still pretty fresh, so news about Apple’s plans for 2019 are still very much in the early-rumor phase.

It is pretty certain that Apple will utilize 5G on its new iPhones in 2019. Apple prides itself on developing its hardware around its customers’ needs and wants. Missing 5G is not an option. Not when its nearest and closest rivals (Samsung and Huawei) are doubling down on it, anyway…
