Wolfenstein 2 Player Glitches into the Vault to Reveal New Mode?

Gamers have now had about two weeks to fight against the occupying Nazi force in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, though the game’s overarching plot does leave those who complete the campaign with a few questions. For instance, there’s a locked vault in the U-boat hub area in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus that simply features a countdown set for November 7th, with the inoperable door preventing gamers from seeing what lies within.

A YouTuber named Blondbassist has taken advantage of a now-removed command console from the initial PC version of the game which allows the player to float through the material realm into the vault unimpeded. Utilizing the classic noclip command, Blondbassist gave gamers everywhere a first look at a vault truly ladden with riches: it features plenty of in-game flavor items, an as-yet unusable diving chamber, and a console featuring options for both a combat simulator and an in-game shop called The Freedom Chronicles.

Gamers can take a look at the locked U-boat compartment in the video below:

Both the combat simulator menu and the in-game shop are simply placeholders at the current time, with the latter likely being an in-game gateway to season pass and downloadable content, and the former likely set to feature an instant action type of game mode. It’s unclear if combat simulations will allow any player-created situations to be shared among gamers, but either way the idea of an instant combat mode outside of the storyline is pretty appealing, especially since the title doesn’t support multiplayer gameplay.

This isn’t the first time an action game has included psuedo-virtual reality add-on content that will allow gamers to experience battles that may not have fit in directly with the game’s narrative. For example, Bethesda’s own Fallout 3 explored the same idea with its Operation Anchorage DLC. Of course, since the combat simulations and Freedom Chronicles tabs are just full of placeholder content right now, there’s no telling what the vault will really contain – though the evidence of a new game mode seems pretty concrete.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
