Zero Dawn’s The Frozen Wilds DLC Has ‘Good Sized Map’

With Horizon: Zero Dawn fans having recently been treated to the reveal of the open world action-adventure title’s first trailer for its The Frozen Wilds DLC during Sony’s E3 2017 press conference earlier this week, players of the game are surely ready to learn as much as possible about the forthcoming expansion as they can before it launches. Thankfully, Guerrilla Games’ General Manager Hermen Hulst recently spoke up about the content in the add-on, saying that it has a “good sized map.”

Hulst made as much known during the PlayStation Live broadcast from the show floor at E3 2017 in Los Angeles, California, with the Guerrilla Games General Manager having stated that the content in Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s The Frozen Wilds DLC is “very chunky,” and includes a new territory across the northern mountains. Naturally, though, he didn’t offer up any precise details as to how many hours of gameplay it will take to complete, but Hulst did explain that it’s “very substantial.”

In addition to the fresh map in Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s The Frozen Wilds DLC, Guerrilla Games has also added new quests, challenges, and settlements for the protagonist Aloy to explore. Not to mention, she’s set to receive a bounty of new weapons for use in combat and much more. And, of course, for those who like to chart their accomplishments, the developer has also given the expansion a new set of trophies as well.

During the discussion, Hulst also detailed why Guerrilla Games decided to make the DLC for Horizon: Zero Dawn. From the perspective of a developer, he explained that after finishing the game, players have all of the skills, tools, and knowledge at the ready, and they just want to continue exploring and growing as the main character. After investing so much time with Aloy, it’s obvious that fans simply want more of her and the world.

All things considered, Guerrilla Games’ decision to incorporate The Frozen Wilds as the first piece of DLC for Horizon: Zero Dawn is a solid move on the part of the developer. After all, the game has already sold upwards of 3.4 million copies, and catering to such a sizeable fan base with additional post-launch content usually keeps players engaged for the foreseeable future and draws in more fans as time progresses.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is available now exclusively for PlayStation 4.
